October 25th 2009
We are happy to confirm that Millstreet Horse Show will be held on its traditional date August 9th-15th 2010. It will be called the Millstreet All-Ireland Championship Horse and Pony Show. There will be in excess of 90 competitions including Derby’s for both horses and ponies.
Major investment in new facilities has commenced and will continue over the winter and spring to include:
Restaurants, bars, food stands, coffee, teas, etc. day and night, as well as musical entertainment will be arranged.
The usual indoor classes will be scheduled to include:
All of these classes originated at Millstreet and in 2010 we plan to invite a number of foreign experts to judge all these classes. New formats and features of these classes are also at a planning stage.
Special efforts will be made to attract potential buyers to the show.
Also included in the upcoming show will be the legendary Boomerang class along with additional young horse jumping competitions. The Millstreet Grand Prix for Senior Riders will be the curtain closer of the show and will have a substantial prize fund.
Despite the economic situation there will be substantial prizes for all events and certificates of performance will be issued to all competitors. Each All-Ireland winner will be issued with an All-Ireland medal, certificate and photograph. There won’t be any charge for admission to the show. All charges will be kept to a minimum and levies will not be deducted from the Prize Fund.
The show will, as always, be open to all-comers, but will place an emphasis on new potential stars, especially at Young Rider level. As the vast majority of existing senior international riders got the opportunity to wear their first green jacket at Millstreet, we wish to promote the next generation of green jackets. Therefore, there will be a Grand Prix designated to Young Riders 25 years of age and under. As with all other competitions, the winner will be the Millstreet All-Ireland Champion Young Rider 2010.
The show will adhere to the strictest animal welfare requirements. Any form of animal abuse will not be tolerated. This will be strictly policed and transgressors will be punished severely. Supervision will be by senior veterinary surgeons.
Finally, the show will be open to both registered and unregistered riders and horses. Under the Competition Act 2002 and the Treaty of Rome Section 81, Showjumping Ireland cannot:
(Section 81, Treaty of Rome)
If Showjumping Ireland attempts to interfere with any aspect of the show including threats to competitors or officials as outlined in the SJI Rules Article 299N and 6N, we will be vigorously challenging their threat to do so.
We at Green Glens hope to see you all in August and a successful show will be had by all!!
